Bloody White: "I visited soulless label offices trying to be somebody i wasn’t..."
How independent artists found creative freedom in Web3
Bloody White just dropped one of the most ambitious music NFT rollouts so far.
And his story will resonate with a lot of artists…
We’ve been covering the Web3 music space for almost 18 months in different capacities, and one thing keeps coming up:
Disillusionment with the traditional music industry…
Listen to Bloody White’s latest drop, then keep reading.
Bloody felt this disillusionment deeply when he first got invited to major label meetings in 2018.
“I was making bimonthly trips to various soulless office buildings in Los Angeles and New York. It was the most validated I had felt since I started creating music, and I hated it.”
Like many creative souls, it simply wasn’t the right environment.
But there was a sense of hope when Bloody White discovered NFTs and a community that was willing to support his purest work.
“For over a year I have been able to create the art that I want to create.”
Now he’s launching Modern Romance — an ambitious 5-track project.
Here’s how it’s rolling out:
Part 1: A trailer on Zora
Part 2: RUN
The first track dropped last week as an accessible open edition on Sound.xyz.
It got almost 800 mints.
Part 3: The rest of the EP
The remaining tracks all drop this week, getting progressively more scarce.
The final track Pray will be auctioned (only 5 editions).
Part 4: The magazine
In April, Bloody will drop a 16-page Modern Romance magazine.
Paired with a NFC chip.
Part 5: The Super Rare auction
Finally, he’ll drop a 1/1 art piece on Super Rare.
