1. Music NFTs at Sotheby’s
Music is art! An iconic music NFT from Deafbeef just sold for $53,340 at Sotheby’s this week as part of the GRAILS II collection. It’s one of 64 pieces from the artist’s Glitch Boxes project made in 2021.
The sale is part of the defunct Three Arrows Capital collection which also included Ringers #879 (the ‘Goose’), a Fidenza, Autoglyph and Chromie Squiggle.
Deafbeef is best known for his generative music experiments, created by an algorithm, and coded into existence on a 10-year old computer. Minted straight to the Ethereum blockchain at the moment of creation, it represents an experimental artform only possible through Web3 and it’s considered one of the most important early NFT experiments.

Mints are soaring on Sound.xyz this week after announcing support for Optimism.

I’m still waiting for the Dune Analytics dashboard to update but I’ll confidently say it’s the biggest week of mints since the platform launched, propelled by free mints and very accessible prices.
