gm music fans,
It’s very rare to see an established music brand enter Web3 in a thoughtful way instead of extracting cash, but I’m optimistic about Colors — an iconic YouTube music channel with more than 2.5 billion views — which launches its first drop in Web3 this week.
Colors has partnered with Zora to bring a series of live music videos onchain. Here’s the full story, alongside the biggest music drops of the week.
Listen to all your music NFTs in one place. Spinamp pulls music from lots of different platforms to give you a simple experience for listening and playlisting music.

Colors Collect
Colors is a YouTube channel featuring iconic live music performances from the likes of Billie Eilish, Masego, Doja Cat and Little Simz. Every video features the minimal Colors backdrop designed to match the artist’s aesthetic and let the performance shine. After amassing 7 million subscribers and 2.5 billion plays on YouTube, the channel is now coming to Web3 with ‘Colors Collect’.
Colors Collect allows you to collect some of the most memorable Colors performances as NFTs (although the phrase NFT, crypto and blockchain is not mentioned - it’s ‘digital collectibles’). As a music fan, you’ll be invited to curate and showcase your favorite videos with a personal profile, and your name will show up as a collector next to the video.
The first video drops tomorrow (Wednesday 28 June) featuring Rema. The Nigerian star first performed ‘Fame’ — an unreleased freestyle — back in 2020 and now has 27 million views on YouTube. In the coming weeks, we’ll get additional drops from Bellah, Bryann, Erick the Architect, RIMON, and YEИDRY.
The Colors Collect platform is powered by Zora, which recently launched the new Zora Network chain to reduce transaction fees.

Bipolar Sunshine - Costal Forms
UK vocalist Bipolar Sunshine comes to Web3 with a strong track record. He’s featured on breakout tracks by DJ Snake and Gryfinn, as well as an impressive solo career. Costal Forms is his genesis NFT — dropping on Friday 30.
Mija - I hope to cure myself of you
DJ and singer Mija is the queen of surprise drops. Yesterday she released a track from her ‘Just Enough’ EP.
Reo Cragun - what it’s like to lose
Reo Cragun dropped a free mint with Noise DAO as the final track in the DAO’s ‘Volume 1’ compilation album.
Every week we bring you the music and strategies from Lens Protocol — the Web3 social layer where a thriving music community is growing.
Music duo KarmaVioletta were the first to drop music on Lens, and they are still using the ecosystem to promote their music better than most. Singer Violetta is using Lenstube (the equivalent of YouTube) to drop short-form teasers of their latest single “So Deep.”
Thanks to the beauty of Lens’ composability, the video automatically populates across all their channels and can be collected for 1 MATIC. (Bonus: there’s a 10% referral fee so fans can share the video and get a cut of any sales).
Catalog
Every weekend we spend some time crate digging through music on Catalog — the home of exclusive 1/1 music. Our favourite track this week is this laid-back, soulful tune by Forrest Mortifee.
